At our
first rally we all met after breakfast on Saturday morning 21 June 2003
and discussed our future and what we needed to function as a "Fun
Club". What was decided was that we needed as little structure
as possible. Our policies will be primarily based upon how the Northeast
Trek club operates with some modifications. Our current policies
are as follows:
The
Southwest Trek Fun Club was officially started 21 June 2003 on a grassy
field in Happy Jack, Arizona. This was our first meeting, but
for several months prior, Liana and Wayne Kinne and Pat and Jim Ward
were all busy planning the first rally and getting everything coordinated.
The
Fun Club exists for the common interest and knowledge sharing of Trek
owners.
We
have no official standing or affiliation with any other club.
We
are not a part of Safari International.
We
have no by-laws and we have NO officers. We did vote that Wayne
and Liana Kinne should remain as our primary coordinators, at least
until we burn them out and they quit.
We
have no affiliation with TREKTracks, although
we all use and enjoy it on a daily basis.
Our
rallies are hosted by volunteers and are decided upon by our members.
We
currently do not invite vendors to our rallies, but do not rule out
this possibility in the future.
There
are no rules or guide lines on what activities should be held or what
meals should be held.
Our
membership is made up of people from all over the West. At our
recent Happy Jack Rally we had coaches from AZ, CA, NM, NV, UT, and
TX. Our database of interested Trek owners includes these states
as well as many others. Based upon this diversity it was decided
that we would not restrict our membership to any group of specific
states. Our policy will be "If you own a Trek, then
you are welcome to be a part of this Fun Club."
Our
initial membership fee has been set at $5.00.
It
is our intent to have at least two rallies per year and, dependent
upon the wishes of the membership, may have more.
